In Kazakhstan, July 13 has been declared a national day of mourning for those killed by the coronavirus. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced this in a televised address.
“I have made a decision to declare July 13 the Day of National Mourning for Kazakhstanis, who have become victims of the pandemic. I am sure that each of us, wherever we are on this day, will honor the memory of those who passed away, ”he said.
Tokayev admitted that the second wave of the spread of infection began in the country. He blamed officials for this. “Unfortunately, due to massive non-compliance with quarantine measures, systemic errors of the former leadership of the Ministry of Health, the sluggishness of akims, we are actually dealing with a second wave of coronavirus, coupled with a sharp increase in pneumonia,” Tokayev said.
Due to the current situation, quarantine measures are reintroduced in Kazakhstan. The restrictions were introduced for two weeks by the decision of the state commission, Tokayev recalled. "That's the right decision. At the moment, the first signs of stabilization of the situation have appeared. But, of course, it's too early to relax. The coming weeks will be critical in our fight against the pandemic, ”he said.
